CURRENT ART EXHIBITIONS

EMILY CAHILL

Emily Cahill is a local artist working and residing in Ocean Grove. Recently delving into the world of art has ended in the creation of the current exhibition.

Having grown up in a family of scientists, Emily naturally followed
in their footsteps, studying science in high school and following on
to study Zoology at La Trobe University in Melbourne and loving
every minute of it. It was only recently that Emily has developed
her artistic side and started creating artworks.
Nudes where the primary focus to begin with, but recently Emily
has branched out into more abstract work. The main medium used
for these works are acrylic inks and alcohol inks. These inks were
chosen due to the beautiful way they flow and the unique quality of
each piece. She states that the difficulty of working with this
medium is negated due to the surprising and uniquely beautiful
works that come from it.
This is the first public exhibition for Emily Cahill, who creates in
any spare time she has between jobs. A hobby that quickly turned
into a passion.
Please contact Emily to discuss any commission pieces that can be crafted to perfectly fit your home.

Don’t miss out on her exciting Art work at Mr Willis Espresso Art Bar.

HUNTERWOOD CREATIVE

Once destined for the scrap heap, recycled pieces of timber are nding a new place to shine.

From their Modewarre workshop Luke and Dale Rogers have spent hours diligently poring over di erent cuts of recycled timber. From rustic lengths of Victorian Ash to imperfect but beautiful Redwood boards, the couple sees beauty in every piece. Constantly gaining inspiration from their picturesque rural surrounds, Luke and Dale share an evident appreciation of the natural world. A love of the earthy and rustic is at the heart of their personal styles. It’s what led them to settle in a country location, it in uences their design choices and it was also a pivotal factor in the recent launch of their business Hunter Wood Creative. Boasting a collection of handcrafted timber wall wares, Hunter Wood Creative makes use of a range of carefully selected timbers, transforming unused pieces into one-o works of art.

Hunter Wood Creative began somewhat unintentionally when Dale was in the market for a statement artwork for the couple’s rural home.

With design ideas already clear in her mind, she decided she and Luke could custom-make the piece themselves. As Luke and Dale’s search for di erent colours and grains led them further a eld, their shared dream of launching their own brand of wall wares gathered momentum. The resulting artwork was the prototype for the Arapaho Collection – the rst Hunter Wood Creative range. The collection boasts wall wares in an array of shapes and sizes, and combines bold patterns and geometric shapes with the natural beauty of distressed leather inlays, mounted skulls and reclaimed timber. Each piece in the collection has been handmade by Dale and Luke in their home studio.
Every original artwork is made piece-by piece and takes several days to complete.

ROWENA PAU

Art has always been a huge passion of mine which I think has a lot to with my torres strait islander heritage. I sketch, paint + also have a background in vm and interior decorating.

I love how art has become a huge importance to our aussie homes again + this series had me flex my paint hand to do a twist on ‘The Field Exhibit’ from 1968. I love the bold colour blocking, geometric forms and retro expression, so I carried that inspo through – combined with my obsession with nature!!! The detail patterns have made another appearance which I think must be a trademark now, as I have no control over them showing up.! I’m a big believer in ‘love what you do’ + I really hope that ‘love’ does translate in my pieces.
